Texas State law requires for all teenagers aged 14-17 years old to take the 32 hour classroom course with 14 hours behind-the-wheel aka BTW (7 driving, 7 observing). Spring Driving School's teen package satisfies those requirements.
All of our driving instructors at Spring Driving School driving school are licensed and certified by the state. They have undergone rigorous training and have years of experience in teaching students how to drive safely and confidently.
The Verification of Enrollment (VOE) form is a required form by the DPS when obtaining a learner's permit. It provides documentation of enrollment and attendance status. Under our website's "Forms" tab, you can find the VOE, however you can also find it on the TDLR.TEXAS.GOV website, or in most High Schools' Registrar's office.
After the third day of the 32 hour teen class, you will be given a certificate which you will take with other required documents to the DPS to then get your learner's permit.
Once you get your permit, you will have to wait 6 months until you are able to get your actual Driver's License. However, if you turn 18 before those 6 months have elapsed, then you can get it on your 18th birthday if you wish!
Texas requires all teens to complete a 30 hour driving log aside from the required 32 hour class + 14 hours behind-the-wheel that we already provide. Many parents will complete these 30 hours with you, however if they are busy or would prefer you to practice with a certified instructor, Spring Driving School also helps with the 30 hour log.
Absolutely not! We encourage students to learn the classroom portion as soon as they are able to. In Texas, as soon as someone turns 14, they can take Drivers Ed. Getting an early start allows for more time observing your parents' driving which will set you up for driving success. On your 15th birthday, you can get your permit and you'll be more prepared than ever!
You will be able to take the road test after you have completed all of the state requirements. The requirements include the course you are taking with us (32 hour classroom + 14 hour behind-the-wheel), the 30 hour parent driving log, the Teen Impact Video, and also having held your permit for at least 6 months (unless your 18th birthday is sooner).
